Councilwoman Ingrid Gray
Director of Public Welfare/Health & Liaison to Historic Preservation Commission
Pohatcong native Ingrid Sabo Gray is pleased to have this wonderful opportunity to serve Pohatcong Township as a councilwoman. She has a long record of public service that was inspired by her mother, Inge Sabo, a teacher who led a Brownie and Girl Scout troop in the township when she was young. Ingrid has served in organizations such as Upward Bound, The Arc of Hunterdon, Domestic Abuse & Sexual Assault Crisis Center, Pohatcong History & Heritage Society, Stanton Holly Trail, Red Cross Blood Drive, 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, Garden State Scholastic Press Association, Pohatcong Economic Development Advisory Commission, Mayor’s designee on the Land Use Board, and Warren County Municipal and Cultural Conservancy Trust Fund Commission.
She taught high school English and Journalism at Hillsborough, Sandhill Alternative School and DelVal, redeveloped/taught a GED-Plus program at the Hunterdon County Jail, and spent 25 years teaching in summer school programs. For years she was the announcer at DelVal and Princeton University wrestling matches. Although retired from teaching, she is still active in her life-long passion as a church music director, organist, and pianist. Ingrid lives in her historic Carpentersville home, featured many times on the Annual Pohatcong Tour of Historic Homes. She is involved with the maintenance, fundraising and restoration of the 1850 Shimer Mansion, which will ultimately serve as the township’s cultural center for art and music. Please feel free to call her to meet her, as well as to share any township concerns or ideas that would support and enhance our beautiful community.
