Help stop invasive plants!
Out of control invasive species are a large and growing problem for the entire region, including Pohatcong Township. Invasive plants can, many times, out-compete and replace native trees and shrubs that woodland managers, farmers and local birds and animals depend on for timber, food and habitat.
Please use native plants for your shade and landscaping needs. They need less water and fertilizer to thrive. Native plant species provide food and habitat for native birds and animals.
Multiflora Rose, Japanese Barberry and Asiatic Bittersweet are invasive species found in our township. There are many others. Some invasive species are obvious, some are not.
Please become familiar with invasive species. Handbooks and web sites are available for help in identifying and controlling these threats to our natural habitat in Pohatcong Township.
